Upcoming Events! march 13, march 14, 2009

I just got a couple of cool announcements from The A List! group members. I love getting the updates and information from the peeps. These networkers and marketers are non-stop on the Second Life grid. They create events, they tie-in with other groups and they share their resources.

Just got one from Queen Coronet over at The Underground group. I included a screen shot of the flyer (how the heck do I get the flyer onto my desktop... help guys! LOL!) Anyway, I'm a marketer... not much of a techie... still looking for the plug to the laptop haha!

Crack Monkey Cove

The flyer is an announcement for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Queenie and Bridgitte Boucher (owner of The Underground) are coordinating the dj's and event. Contact them for more info on the event for Friday, March 13, 2009.

The line-up is impressive and non-stop from 10:00am to 8:00pm and includes DJ's from around the world: Clastix Enzo, Radi Roffo, Lara2x Nardoo, Artec Amat, Adamatic Aeon, GaryN Ansome, Wiu Bing, Init Hubble (personal fav!), Evermore Noel, and Jasminx Saenz (owner of Divaz). From Japan to the USA, these dj's will be pumping out the tunes!

An auction is happening, too. Bid on your favorites: Solange Daviau, Queen Coronet, Init Hubble, Lanne Wise, Magz Schmooz, Casha Fall, Ryz Uriza, TheArtfullone Skytower, Soreal, ProDee and more. This auction coincides with the annual gala for Prevent Cancer Foundation in the real world.

Black Box

Also coming up on Saturday, March 14, 2009, is Black Box's provacative event called, Electronic Music Militants. (5) dj's are lined up from 9:00am to whenever it ends after 6:00pm. DJ's included are Evermore Noel at 9:00am, Stefan Chrousch at 10:00am, Robot Recreant at 12:00pm, Martino Bamasian at 2:00pm and finally Tiari Eun at 4:00pm to the end of the event. Black Box is owned by Stefan Chrousch and partners from United Beats group.

NEVER boring on the grid. There is always a party or event. Get out there and enjoy and support these party and event makers. Event planners in Second Life work just as hard as they do in the real world. Their reward? ...the satisfaction that they made a fabulous event, and that we had a great time! Woot!

DORIAN GRAY : 2ND YEAR ANNIVERSARY

There's a big party today at Dorian Gray on Aydat sim. Why? Because Dorian Gray is celebrating their 2nd Anniversary on the Second Life grid.

DORIAN GRAY 2 YEARS IN SECOND LIFE

DORIAN GRAY 2ND ANNIVERSARY

That's freakin' remarkable. As I watch club after club disappear, Dorian Gray remains. It's a testament to Maximilian Stradling, the founder of this historical club.  Influenced by the original Dorian Gray in Frankfurt, Germany that was shut down in 2000, this club was lovingly built in Second Life to honor its memory.

MAXIMILIAN STRADLING AT DORIAN GRAY

Barbs Kurka, a well known avatar and dj of trance, electronica in Second Life has the honor of holding the title of the Dorian Gray builder. Her work is meticulous and refined. Posters from the club adorn the walls reminding us of the original club logos.

BARBS KURKA : BUILDER DORIAN GRAY

DJ Barbs Kurka was spinning when I got there. Trance at its best.  DJ Elisha Richez did the honors next, and I also got to hear Maximilian Stradling, the founder himself spin a set!

HEALER LADYBIRD AT PSY PARTY

Hmmm, I see dj Healer, 8wall, Elisha, Dietmar, Shad, Lennox, Grip, Amber and a bunch of people I don't know. I can imagine how many people danced through this club in 2 years!

(TY to Bio for bringing me to Dorian Gray a long, long time ago...)

Starax Statosky Sculptures

Two years ago, I rezzed into Second Life, and somehow, I ended up on the color sims. Not sure how or why I ended up on the Mauve sandbox, but I hung out there everyday and night just watching and learning through osmosis.

STARAX SCULPTURES

I would hang there, crash, lag so bad, and learn something new everyday. I remember the Starax sculpture of the gorilla holding the hapless blonde woman in his paw. The sculpture was positioned like a doorway into the sandbox surrounded by a river and waterfalls. I flew past that statue every single day... always stopping to land on his hairy arms. That SL sculpture and the surrounding waterfalls just mesmerized me. I could not understand at that time how the builder, Starax made the gorilla or the flowing water and landscapes.

RAFTWET & XAVIER AT STARAX

I would puzzle over it and then look at the build constantly, trying to figure it out. Yes, I should have tried to take a building class, but I was so shy and so withdrawn at the time... I just couldn't. So I hid out at the clubs dancing and writing and meeting great people. But, I kept at the building process.

STARAX ART IN SECOND LIFE ; WOW

One day, I left Mauve after an avie griefed me there. Shooting me, caging me... you know what I mean... typical shiz. But, at that time, it scared the hell out of me. I didn't understand it and I usually just poofed away... like a scared rabbit. On my way out of there, I saw a bunch of beautiful, colorful flowers and objects on the ground near Mauve. The sculptures (Olympia's flowers) were so sweet and pretty, I walked around them to just absorb the artwork.

STARAX AT APOLLO'S

I walked and walked and suddenly, I was lifted and pulled across the land without warning. (Region crossing between sims) I was freaked because I didn't know about crossing slowly from one region to the next... especially on these older sims. The mysterious pull landed me on an empty parcel of land with a fractal sculpture on one side. A small 512 square meter plot next to the other one...

FALLEN ANGEL

Bisque. That's how I landed there... with the mysterious pull of the region crossing... lol! Those of you who build in sandboxes know what I mean. It's great to build in a sandbox... large space, lots of other builders, but... frustrating on another level. Lag is bad because you got a lot of avies building and testing scripts. Also, noobs with a bit of scripting background can come in and just reek havoc there griefing builders showing off their new skills. So, to find this little plot sooooo close to Mauve... SL gods, I swear, were having their day.

GREEN CREATURE

So I bought it. And that's where I really became a builder. Later on, I found out from my SL mate that the gorilla was created by Starax, the famous builder in SL... and I never knew that such a well-known, famous builder had created it!

STARAX STATOSKY

I write this now because I received an invite into a new flickr group called Starax. Second Life builders owe a great deal to Starax who stepped up the level of prim building sculptures at a time when the grid did not have the same technical abilities. Keep in mind, most of the sculptures you see now that are similar were not built using just prims but with sculptys. No offense to the sculpty builders, but when I look at something like a Starax Statosky or the Ivory Tower of Prims and start comparing sculptys... well, you know... Both are great, but one is a masterpiece... especially if you are NOT counting prims! LOL!

DJ TASTY HAX & RADIANT BLISS MUSIC PROJECT

I can't remember when I met dj Tasty Hax, but she was always at all the parties. I kinda hang quietly listening and usually working on another computer or uploading pictures to the flickr account, so I miss a lot of what's happening in front of me. I knew this though that she was a dj, music lover and owned a group called Radiant Bliss Music Project. The mission and scope of the group was one I believed in, so way back in '07, I think I briefly belonged. (I belong now...)

DJ TASTY HAX

As I joined and left groups, I always saw her promotions and events happening on the grid. Then we became friends and now her team belongs to The A List! group, too. We all support each others endeavors and try to inform everyone what we are all doing. We are proud to have Tasty and her event makers in our group!

MOOS HULTCRANTZ CLUB WHITE NOISE

Tasty and Radiant Bliss have announced several new projects. This Thursday, they will host a rezz day party for Cat Carfagno over at the new stage for Radiant Biss Music Project. (Location to be announced!) A slew of dj's will be playing non-stop for the rezz day and the launch of the new stage. So join Tasty, Radiant Bliss and the rest of us on a fun celebration: Thursday, February 19, 2009. DJ's include Fred Herberle, Tasty Hax, Artec Amat, Doubledown Tandino and several others. (Location to be announced... contact Tasty for more info)

love, romance; valentine's day is coming!

Well, we got both birthdays out of the way these past few weeks. Finally! His was a wild party of music and friends, and mine was a quiet-stay-at-home time reflecting on the past two years. We are now looking forward to celebrating a romantic time together this Valentine's Day.

JAZZ AT PHAT'S
Phatland features Phat's a beautiful jazz club designed for love and romance. Contemporary jazz with a salute to the old tunes, too, brings this club to the top among choices for Valentine's Day.

Last year, we were both at Avilion celebrating the heart, love day... giggles, but not with each other! He was with a friend and I was with a friend... and yet, we were in IM with each other... wishing each other a happy valentine's day. I remember thinking how handsome he looked... and wishing that he was my date. LOL!

ROMANTIC DINNER
Fair Chang Expo features a romantic dinner for two above the dance floor. High quality live music is featured here with jazz piano, flamenco guitar and blues, jazz vocalists.

One year has passed and we have remained both best friends and a loving couple. Wow, in Second Life, that's a loooong time. He lifts my spirits everyday. No matter what has happened, no matter the circumstance... he makes me smile. Thank you, my angel...

PHANTOM ROSE COUPLE
Phantom Rose Opera House features operatic selections every Sunday on their veranda overlooking the lake. Very romantic with beautiful music.

Grab a friend, a loved one or a buddy and go check out the romantic sims this coming week... if you don't have a significant other... then spend that Valentine's Day with the friends you love. SECOND LIFE LOVE
Pillow Talk is a retail store nestled in the clouds featuring romantic poses for couples using their famous pillows.

RAFTWET & XAVIER AT AVILION BALLROOM

Avilion Ballroom was our message from the SL gods last year that we were meant to be together... and this Valentine's Day... we will be.

For more romantic places in Second Life, check the resources on The A List!

art for art's sake!

Clubbing isn't the only thing that I do in Second Life. I love art and SL is a paradise for artists and creators. Anything your imagination can dream of, you can probably create.

ZACCH COLE AT ZEUGMA

Zacch sent a special invite to Zeugma Gallery featuring Troy Vogel's beautiful Mission influenced architecture. Like Frank Lloyd Wright, Troy has created a beautiful light-filled space. He is a premier builder in Seccond Life.

ZEUGMA GALLERY AND TROY VOGEL

Gallery hopping takes a lot longer than visiting clubs. Both of us love to look and then discuss each piece. If one captures our attention, then we are talking about it for at least an hour. So most of these pictures were taken over a course of a week.

Gallery Lemonodo Oh sent out a shout for (3) artists Soldinotte Allen, Zhora Maynard and gallery owner Lemonodo Oh. This is a fabulous gallery with sophisticated artwork. We were there all night just absorbing the artwork. Three levels of art, so make sure you check each floor.

LEMONODO GALLERY

One of the pieces also had a link to the Argonaut Art Gallery where we found Maryva Mayo's artwork. I was there for hours. Beautiful sculptures, beautifully scripted.

MARYVA MAYO AT ARGONAUT ART GALLERY

A few days ago, we went to The Aho Museum which houses some of the finest sculptures and artwork by very well known artists. Starax is there along with many famous art world names. The entire afternoon and night was spent there. So much to see!

ART AT AHO MUSEUM

A stop off while we were exploring sims took us to Ode. This is a very minimalist sim. A series of floating retail and gallery is there among rocks and ocean. No razzle dazzle, just ocean and rocks.

Random Calliope created WorthWhile, a retail/gallery. But, it was there that we found the Imagine Peace group and "But I'm Not the Only One" jewelry piece. You can read about that at The A List! blog. We also ended up spending a few hours just sitting on a rock, talking and meditating on the beautiful expanse of ocean. Very zen-like atmosphere.

IMAGINE PEACE

On a sad note, member Chuckmatrix has recently closed his gallery. His work is emerging and is strong. I think I purchased the majority of all the pieces there. I am hopeful that he continues his art in Second Life.

CHUCK MATRIX CMC GALLERY

Here's a landmark to Chuckmatrix's CMC Gallery. The prices have dropped so drastically; this is art worth grabbing while it lasts.

RAVERZ STYLE:Z and RAVELONG

I got into a long conversation with Raver who owns Raverz Style:z, a cool shop for ravers on the grid while I was dancing with my angel at Sphynx Club while DJ Jen Noel was spinning. As The Dealer set out her belly dancing Indian music, I was zoning and chatting with Raver, Mr. Retail himself.

RAVERZ STYLE:Z

We were bouncing off ideas for vendors, affiliates and other such boring talk about shops and such. He had just sent me the new affiliate kiosks for my shops... streamlined and better scripted.

I asked him about his suggestions about traffic and advertising, and I gave him suggestions about how to manage all the vendors and rental boxes with Hippo Tech. I love talking to fellow business owners. Their past experiences on the grid help those of us who are still new at selling products and services on the grid. And even more fun doing business talk while your dancing!

RAVELONG CLUB, DJ PRODUCTS

Raver has his products now in another friend's shop, DJ Doubledown Tandino. Doubledown has a one-stop-shop for clubs and dj's. He is also the developer of the Metahud. IM him directly or go to his shop for that all-in-one hud for search and other SL functions.

DJ DOUBLEDOWN TANDINO

Doubledown sent me a tp this morning. He was spinning some tunes in front of his shop, Ravelong. Sexy beats with a Latin flavor kept me there while I took pics and wrote notes. It's a great shop for clubs and djs. Go check it out!
