I just joined a cool network that is a conglomeration of all virtual worlds including Second Life. Cool because we can be in there and connect both socially and in business. Avatars United. LOL! yah another spam site, another place to get messages out.
You get the drift. Create a profile, add bio, add photos, add videos (not yet), make friends and create groups. The difference is that it is in my community... where I reside and work. The avatars in Second Life are in there duplicating many of the same interests and groups that they already have in world.
Both my partner and I are there enjoying the friends and groups. We brought THE A LIST! into the network and it's been fun adding new friends to the group. I also started a group on a whim that has had a nice beginning. FOOD! is a group without any pretensions except that we all love food, recipes and tips on making our kitchen prep easier. We also recommend slurls for our favorite food creators on the grid.
There are several applications that make photos and communication easier, too. I am hoping that this beta goes smoothly as I already see problems happening with the group dynamics and photo uploads. With all of us sending suggestions and the creators monitoring our behavior, I am hoping this new network will be THE site for the virtual worlds.
And, besides, I have brought in many of the Lindens onto my friends list there... even former CEO, Phil Linden. OMG! Seriously... and I hope it is actually him behind that profile representation. Hee hee!

live music christopher135 quan
We stopped off to catch a live singer playing piano over at Fire n Ice, a live music venue.

Christopher135 Quan was singing a smooth sultry set of contemporary pop tunes.

A nice way to chill on this busy Saturday afternoon.

JAPAN RESORT is my ...
Japan Resort is my home away from home. It's been three years since I found this little island on the Second Life grid. I still remember how I found it...
The first week of my SL experience, I spent time doing searches for my favorite subjects and places. Of course, I looked for anything Japanese or asian related. Japan Resort was at the top of the searches, so I tp'ed into the sim.
A vast expanse of beach with a small sign proclaiming "Japan Resort" rezzed in front of me. Next to the rezz area was a little ice cream stand with a simple chair. A bunch of avatars were just standing around there chatting. Some were dressed as fierce cyber warriors or dragons or creatures. Most were in regular clothes like me.
Off in the distance, I could see a tiki bar, hammocks and rafts near the beach side. And, a lifeguard station with surf boards and wind surfers were nearby. As I walked along the beach, I saw a pink cherry blossom tree with a pool and spa across the way. Many avatars were sitting in the pool and chatting away with each other. The event area is always a party zone with people stopping in for a dance or just to meet others.
I met my best friend here at Japan Resort. And, I also met my first love here. I have met so many people at Japan Resort that I could possibly say that my closest and dearest relationships were all formed here.
JR is a simple place without the fanfare of much of the grid. But, the place is more complex that any other... why? Because it is a place of real relationships and real people... a gathering place of international people reaching out for fun and human contact.
Thank you Japan Resort for all these years of fun!

The builders at BassLine Island always have wicked builds. Fight Club is a tiny club with a film projector in the living room and popcorn on the table.

Inside, the djs are burning the deck with Drum and Bass beats. Tonight, we stopped off to hear DJ Stickfigure bring it on.

Bassline Junkiez group will give you the skinny on the dnb scene. Always, a great way to start and end an evening of partying! Woot!

Odd how things change so fast in Second Life and yet, things stay the same. And I like it that way...

Tonight... it's Thursday night/Friday morning and Mr Widget is spinning the mash at Muzik Haus.

The regulars are here. Eifachfilm, Firefury, Raintears, Cal, OhhMmmm and other familiar peeps.

It's a comfort to know that Mr Widget is here; makes my Second Life worthwhile. Woot!

Last night I spent a wonderful evening at Criss Museum of Contemporary Art. Scotj Criss and his lovely partner, Katerina Burner held "A Baroque Ball" and we attended in full French fashion circa 1600.

The Barque Ball was highlighted with a live reading of poetry and live music with Azael Glom who played popular classical compositions on piano.

I also created a short video of photo slides of the event on my raftwet jewell youtube channel; just look for Criss Museum of Contemporary Art - Second Life.
